Lauren had her first Hatha and Iyengar yoga classes in San Francisco and Berkeley, California in the 1980’s, but it was during a New Year’s snowshoe/yoga retreat in 2001 with a Kripalu yoga teacher that the foundations for practice were laid as she began to discover a home in yoga and inspiration for reorganizing her work as a physician and colorectal surgeon. The connection grew stronger at Yoga Shanti in Sag Harbor then New York City, first on retreats beginning in 2013, then in regular practice which she intensified with teacher training in 2015-2016 followed by Urban Zen Integrative Therapy training (also at Yoga Shanti).
